Q. Why buy Brunswick?

A. Because they're built better on the inside. Exclusive Brunswick High Performance Nut Plate™ fastens the cushions, rails and slate together with at least 70% more torque than standard T-nuts used by competitors. Components are so tightly bound they perform as a single unit.

For greater stability, washers attach directly to the hard slate, while in competitive tables they dig into wood.

A careful blend of cotton canvas of the right weave and weight is vulcanized into the top and back surfaces of the rubber to control ball penetration and deliver accurate rebound angles.

Automated production equipment bonds the rubber to the rails at precisely the right location with a high, even pressure and no chance of human error.

Nose height is consistent all around the table. The height matches the optimum of 64% of the diameter of the 2¼" ball.

The cloth is stapled into a relief in the wood to avoid interference with precision cushion height and to ensure flat contact with the slate.

Brunswick rails are solid wood and are thicker than those on competitive tables for stability and accuracy.

The frame base wood is cut in two and joined with opposing grains to increase strength.

Dove tail joint assembly and thicker wood beams mean greater frame strength and consistent play.

At key locations neccesary for assembly and disassembly, and for rock-solid stability, machine nuts and bolts construction is used. Rails can also be easily removed and reattached without loss of integrity and strength.

Brunswick's finishing process minimizes moisture penetration and provides a long-lasting, beautiful appearance.

Brunswick tables are assembled with more hardware than competitor's tables for greater stability and strength.

Q. What are the minimum room requirements for a billiard table?

A. The room dimension requirements depends largely on two things: the dimensions of the pool table, and the lengths of the pool cues you intend to use. Use the following chart to determine the requirements for your game room (NOTE: "A" is area required for 48" cue, "B" is area required for 52" cue, "C" is area required for 58" cue):

3' x 6' Table (Playing Area: 32" x 64")
A - 11'x13½'
B - 11½'x14'
C - 12½'x15'

3½' x 7' Table (Playing Area: 38" x 76")
A - 11½'x14½'
B - 12'x15'
C - 13'x16'

4' x 8' Table (Playing Area: 44" x 88")

C - 14'x18'

Q. What are the BCA specifications for a regulation table?

A.Measure the playing area from the cloth covered nose of cushion rubber to the opposite cushion rubber, both width and length. A regulation table has the following dimensions:
4 x 8 table: Playing area 44" width by 88" length
4 x 8 table: Playing area 46" width by 92" length
4.5 x 9 table: Playing area 50" width by 100" length
5 x 10 table: Playing area 56" width by 112" length

BCA will sanction Tournament Play on Home and Coin-operated tables produced in sizes other than those recognized above, if the playing area width is one-half the length, measured cushion to opposite cushion.

The table bed height when measured from the bottom of the table leg, will be 29 ¼" minimum to 31" maximum.

All playing surfaces must be secured to base frame with screws and bolts.

All Brunswick Billiards and Canada Billiard tables follow the BCA specifications and are sanctioned for sale in both Canada and the U.S.A.

Q. How do I take care of the cloth on my billiard table?

A. You should always keep your billiard table covered to protect the table from dirt particles, which can breakdown, the cloth fibers and shorten the life of the cloth.

To clean off the dirt and dust use a billiard table brush. The nap on a bed cloth always runs from the "D" to the top spot. On the cushions, the nap usually runs left to right on the end rails and with the direction of the bed cloth nap on the side rails. Brushing helps remove dirt, chalk, dust, and lint from both the bed and cushions.

If extra cleaning is needed you can use Imperial felt cleaner, and/or occasionally vacuum the table. When using a vacuum make sure to use a mild suction with a fine brush attachment. Vacuum the table the same way you brush the table.

When a new cloth has been used for a short time, small spots will appear. These are cue stabs (not moth marks) which are caused by players allowing their cues to come into contact with the cloth after striking the ball. These marks will gradually become less noticeable as the cloth ages. This type of damage is caused more frequently if the edges of tips or ferrules are allowed to become sharp or rough or if the tips do not exactly fit the cue. The dropping of balls or rough placing of rests can cause similar blemishes.

The tossing of coins on the table should be absolutely forbidden.

White tracking will eventually occur against cushions and in pocket openings. It is part of the normal process of wear. It is caused because the wool fiber becomes bruised or crushed between the hard surface of the ball and the unyielding slate bed. Tracking is accelerated by failure to brush the cloth to remove abrasives like chalk, dust, and dirt; the use of damaged or greasy balls; use of excessively powerful shots which cause the ball to bounce.

Q. What's the difference between a Snooker table and a Boston table?

A.
   Snooker Table  Boston Table
 Maximum Size:  6' x 12'  4½'x9'
 Cushions:  L-shaped  V-nose rubber
 Ball Size:  2 1/16"  2 ¼"
 Pockets:  3" - 3¼"  4 7/8" - 5 1/8"

Q. How high should I hang my billiard light over my table?

A. If you are installing your light with your table already in place, the light should be 34” from the table surface to the bottom rim of the shade. If you are installing the light before the table is in place, the light should be 64” from the floor to the bottom rim of the shade. These are minimum height requirements.

Q. How high should I hang my dartboard and where do I throw from?

A. A dartboard should be hung 5’ 8” from the centre of the bull to the floor. The throw line (or toe line/hockey line) should be 7’ 9 ¼ “ from edge of the board.

Q. How do I know when to replace the rubber on the rails?

A. If you bounce a pool ball along the rail and it doesn’t spring back, your rails could be “dead”. You may need to replace the rubber that runs along the rails, beneath the cloth.
